  • This new acquisition of Boutique Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola enriches Erqole’s portfolio in Argentario to relaunch the destination, and further to planned investment and renovation, will mean Erqole covers the island from sunrise to sunset with two hotels, a brand-new beach club, and more developments in the pipeline

The charming Boutique Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola in Monte Argentario, which had been owned for 30 years by Cala Piccola SpA, is now part of Erqole; a company within the Swedish group, Qarlbo AB, owned by the Jonsson family. As part of its growing Italian portfolio, Erqole owns and manages the new boutique hotel on the island, LA ROQQA, and its exclusive beach club, Isolotto, in addition to managing the restyling of Fattoria La Capitana in Magliano, province of Grosseto, and the complete renovation of Cirio, a former fishing plant in Porto Ercole that has been abandoned for 40 years and is being transformed into a luxury hotel by architect, Marco Casamonti (Archea Associati architecture studio). Through this acquisition, Erqole endeavors to broaden its portfolio of unparalleled hospitality within Argentario and reinforce the Jonsson family’s vision of long-term revitalization of the region.

With the investment in Boutique Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola, Erqole intends to expand the offering of diverse, but complementary locations, striving for the highest standards of hospitality for a unique and high-quality guest experience. Perched gracefully along the scenic north-western shores of Argentario, and only a 15-minute drive from Porto Santo Stefano, Boutique Hotel Torre di Cala Piccola is surrounded by a private park of over 11,000 sqm that also houses a sensory garden, offering panoramic views of the Giglio Island and lush landscapes. The hotel will reopen for the 2024 season on 11 April under the management of the Erqole team, with 53 rooms and suites, as well as a restaurant and a bistro with an outdoor terrace.

"With this acquisition, we give our guests the opportunity to truly discover an enchanting destination by land and sea, in the authenticity of Argentario. We are investing in this long-term project with conviction, to restore the value the territory deserves, focusing on a level of hospitality that is of the highest standard but at the same time sustainable, especially from a social point of view, a philosophy that we first and foremost express towards our collaborators who make the facilities we manage extraordinary and unforgettable," commented Anton Jonsson, creative director of Erqole and Qarlbo, as well as a member of the Board of Directors of Qarlbo. "To carry forward all our projects, which, in addition to managing the already operational structures, also include the restyling of La Capitana and the conversion of the former Cirio, pending final approvals, we have recently appointed Stefano Cuoco as the new CEO of Erqole, a professional with 20 years of experience in the luxury hospitality sector, who will support Flavio Bucciarelli, who has become chairman as well as CEO of Qarlbo Hospitality: a team of great professional quality committed to bringing to life the vision we have for this unique destination, with a complete and high-quality offer."
