The boutique property in Portland, Maine has also announced the appointment of Maine native Matt Plourde as Hotel General Manager.

Longfellow Hotel, a brand-new boutique hotel from Maine-based, family-owned hospitality group Uncommon Hospitality, is now accepting reservations with an anticipated opening of September 2023. Located at 754 Congress Street in Portland's historic West End neighborhood, the 48-room property is designed by the lauded Post Company, their first project in the state. The five-story hotel also comprises Astraea, a first-of-its-kind wellness spa, as well as Twinflower Café, a wellness-focused cafe, and Five of Clubs, a European-style lobby bar. The Longfellow will also debut as a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, putting a spotlight on Portland's world-class luxury hospitality scene.

The Longfellow has been thoughtfully designed to elicit joy and enhance wellness. The residentially-inspired guest rooms showcase modern yet traditional flair, blending contemporary elements juxtaposed with traditional features like custom moldings, ceiling medallions and wide-plank, hardwood floors. The spa, Astraea, is unlike any other wellness offering in Maine, focusing on full body and mind wellness with carefully-curated massage and meditation experiences, as well as private infrared sauna rooms. Beloved Portland restauranteurs Siobhán & Mike Sindoni, owners of the acclaimed Wayside Tavern, are operating both of The Longfellow's dining venues; Twinflower Café is a wellness-focused cafe with a rotating menu of wholesome, grab-and-go breakfast and lunch fare, while Five of Clubs calls to mind the alluring lobby bars of New York and London with its intimate, library-style lounge serving small-batch cocktails, rotating taps of local beer, and an Old World wine list paired with charcuterie and chilled seafood. Rounding out the hotel's focus on thoughtful amenities, The Longfellow's complimentary, luxury house car is a 2023 BMW i7 Sedan, an all-electric, executive-style vehicle, and the fastest all-electric BMW to date. The Longfellow car will be available to provide guest transportation into the Old Port.

Maine continues to become an increasingly popular destination for U.S. and international travelers, demanding the highest caliber of hospitality talent for its new and existing hotels. Uncommon Hospitality is proud to appoint Matt Plourde as General Manager of The Longfellow. In this role, Plourde will play an integral role in launching this exciting West End project, spearheading hotel operations, guest services, and community outreach to cement The Longfellow's legacy as a Portland hospitality icon. Prior to this role, Plourde, who is also a Maine native, worked for Starbucks' corporate division, overseeing the company's New England business units.

Plourde will also bolster The Longfellow's commitment to the communal well being of its surrounding neighborhood. Upon opening, the property will debut myriad partnerships with community organizations that are working to find solutions to homelessness in Portland: Preble Street provides barrier-free services to people experiencing homelessness, with a specific focus on building meaningful relationships with unhoused members of the community every day, and Spurwink provides behavioral health care, substance use disorder services, and support for people of all ages and their families.

The Longfellow development team includes Uncommon Hospitality, Post Company, Portland based architect, David Lloyd, and his team at Archetype Architects, Terradyn Consultants, civil engineers, and Allied-Cook, construction managers.
