New Zealand’s Capstone Hotel Management has been appointed as the new management company for Marlborough Sounds property Portage Resort, formerly known as The Portage Hotel.

Established in the early 1900’s, the 42-room Portage Resort features a restaurant and bar, an outdoor pool and a range of on-site activities.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be joining the owners of Portage Resort to commence an exciting new chapter for the property,” said Capstone Managing Director, Clare Davies.

“We look forward to adding the Capstone touch and reintroducing the property and new leadership team to the international tourism sector and recementing its place in the heart of locals and New Zealanders.”

Capstone has taken over reservations and trade enquiries and plans to host an open day on October 6 to introduce the team to local tourism operators and the community and share details about their plans for the property.

Letitia Morettini, a representative for the owners, said they are pleased to see the property come under management of the locally based business.

“Clare Davies and her team have a strong understanding of the top of the south region and in particular the Marlborough Sounds, having worked with lodges in the area, including management of Awaroa Lodge in the Abel Tasman National Park,” Morettini said.

“Capstone has a strong understanding of the logistics and challenges of managing a remote property and the team are extremely committed to reinvigorating Portage back to its former glory.”
