SINGAPORE — Nearly 1,000 industry professionals attended the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) in Singapore from October 23 to 25 at the Fairmont Singapore & Swissotel The Stamford. The conference focused on the dynamics and future prospects of the hospitality-and-travel industry in the Asia-Pacific region, discussing topics such as emerging travel trends, new developments in the hotel industry and economic investment opportunities.

HICAP has remained the unequaled annual gathering for Asia Pacific’s hotel-investment community, attracting the most influential industry executives from around the world for more than 30 years, including representatives from Accor, Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott. The conference featured an extensive array of sessions and panels led by more than 130 industry leaders across all sectors of the hotel investment-and-tourism industries.

Highlights from the conference include:

  • Mixed-use properties reduce risk and compression rate for investors
  • Accor has approximately 225 hotels in its pipeline, with 15,000 keys signed in mid-brands
  • Segmentation is beneficial for personalizing the hotel’s product range
